Karaga Mahotsava
Karaga Mahotsava is a vibrant, ancient festival celebrated in Karnataka, especially in Bangalore, that honors Goddess Draupadi and symbolizes womanhood. The festival’s name, “Karaga,” refers to an elaborate earthen pot, adorned with a floral pyramid and goddess idol, that is carried on a priest’s head without being touched during a central procession. The festival features a spectacular procession led by a priest dressed in female attire and is considered a symbol of communal harmony and peace, drawing participants from all backgrounds.
